Fish of the Day: モンツキハギ
Special Find: Peacock Mantis Shrimp
Truly a great day of diving with ‘Melody of the Sea’! The dive center was very busy today with a full boat including staff. There was two groups of fun divers, one group of snorkeling, and a ‘try scuba’ group. We were pleasing every kind of sea admirerer today.
The first dive was in Ibaruma. A shallow dive to 6 meters maximum depth, visibility was 15 meters plus, water temperature a tropical 29 and there was just a wisper of wind on the sea. I had a group of 5 fun divers, we took it slow and easy. Taking time to watch the デバスズメダイ and watching three different anemone fish – Clarks, Pink and Tomato. We also spotted a Lionfish and a very small porcelean anemone crab. There were many sea cucumbers, damsel fish, parrot fish and wrasses too. We had a good time enjoying the colours of the sea for 70 minutes…
The second and third dive were at Yonehara. The second dive i had my same group of fun divers, a very fun and relaxed group, all with cameras. Maximum depth was 7 meters and dive time was 73 minutes. The water in Yonehara was just as clear as Ibaruma, 15 meters plus and the same tropical 29 degrees. This is where we found the peacock mantis shrimp and we were also lucky with a Octopus. At the top of the reef it was teeming with fairy basslets, a videographers paradise….. We also viewed more anemone fish and took pleasure in watching the parrot fish and wrasses feeding on the coral.
For the third dive i went out with the snorkeling group. There was a family and also two girls, the family enjoyed staying near to the boat so i ventured off further away with the two girls. They were great snorkelers and really enjoyed watching the fish. We spotted a カソムリベラ and followed it for a while. We were able to see two diferent species of anemone fish and also happened upon a scorpion fish (photo).
Today was a very exciting day with so many different activities taking place on the boat. We also had some special regular visitors to ‘melody of the sea’, they were very fun and comfortable on the baot. We love diving at Ishigaki North!!!!
